How to Connect With a Plant Ally
Think about a plant you'd like to strike up a conversation with.
Is this a plant in your yard? In your neighborhood park? Maybe it's your favorite house plant or a freshly-picked flower you brought into your home.
Find a relaxing place to hang out with this plant for the next ten minutes or so. Make sure you take the time you need to get comfortable before you begin.
When you’re ready, close your eyes and take a deep breath, inhaling slowly and deeply into your belly. Hold your breath there for a few moments, then release. Go ahead and take two more deep breaths like this, and allow your breath to soften any areas in your body that might be tight or holding onto something from your day.
Now just spend the next few minutes hanging out with the plant. Be open to any messages you might receive, and jot down any impressions you get. Maybe you want to sketch the plant in your notebook or doodle to get into a creative flow. When you’re ready, answer the following journal prompts:
What ten quick word associations come up when you think about this plant? During this exercise, don't think too hard or judge what comes up. Just let the words bubble up from your mind and write them down. It's ok if some of them don't make sense at first.
What healing truths are you receiving from this plant?
What is this plant trying to reveal to you about your own innate magic?
What feelings come up around the messages from this plant?
What are some ways you can bring the spirit of this plant into your life?
